Be at cause for what shows up in your life rather than at effect. What do they mean by that? It means to take responsibility for what is happening in your life. For example, let’s say Billy has a job. And that job requires him to start at 9 am however he is consistently late and usually arrive ½ hour late. After an amount of time passes, Billy gets fired from his job. Some people will blame their ex-employer saying that they were fired unfairly and it is not their fault they are unemployed. Looking at it this way, even though it may be true, is being at effect of what happened. Someone that is being at cause, or responsible for what happened, would look at the situation and say, well I was late a lot, and I am responsible for that lack of integrity. And they would proceed to take the learning from the experience and say to themselves: if I am late for a job consistently, I will get fired, and then proceed to put in the effort to show up to their next job on time. People often refer to this as “Learning from our mistakes.” If there is an area in your life that you are not happy with, look to see what you can change about that particular situation and then make the necessary changes.
